Zur Rettung der Popkultur - Experimental Music Videos with DJ. A collaboration with Anonym.The importance of experimental music videos as the outcome of a culture's evolution on the one side, and as motors of cultural change on the other side, is often appreciated only by a niche of connoisseurs and insiders, while it remains underestimated by the great part of a lay public. Zur Rettung der Popkultur is an evening in the elegant premises of the fashion store Anonym, dedicated to showcase what has remained for long part of an almost parallel culture. Presented by Prashanth Pallemoni, a series of experimental music videos of the past two decades created by German directors will give insights to some of the most interesting recent productions of the German culture. About Prashanth Pallemoni: Who better than Prashanth Pallemoni could guide us through this musical journey? Having started DJ'ing as a hobby in 1998, he has since then won a local DJ competition and become a full time music artist. Unhappy with the situation and slow progress of the music scene in India, he left for Manchester, UK, to study Sound Engineering at SSR (School of Sound Recording). There, a multi- cultivation of sounds occurred through cultural and aural exchange. Love for samba grew while living with Brazilians and the Jazz ears opened up while working with Irfan and his Manchester based label, 'Rainy City Music'. From all this inculcation came his interpretation of fusing House grooves with Jazz and Indian elements on 'Our raag', a record released in Dec 2006 by a Chicago based Soul/Disco/House label 'Its Still Music'. While he stayed away from his country for so long, he realized the value of living out and looking within. Inspired by the spiritual and ancestral approach to making music like Osunlade, Joe Claussell and Trilok Gurtu, he hooked up with likeminded musicians and then founded 'Grey Soul Records'. Prashanth has collaborated with the Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad in the past and on this occasion has travelled to a Pop festival in Germany, where he could touch base with artists who produce works such as those presented in Zur Rettung der Popkultur.
